In this vital role, the MBR maintains the central Register of Beneficial Owners and perform detailed verifications to ensure all basic and beneficial ownership information is accurate and transparent whilst working in close collaboration with competent authorities, subject persons, and legal entities to define and uphold high regulatory standards, strengthening Malta’s national defences against money laundering and terrorist financing. The MBR also houses the Insolvency and Receivership Service which is responsible for the Insolvency Register and for overseeing corporate insolvency, debt restructuring, and the orderly winding up of companies to safeguard the interests of creditors and stakeholders alike.     Senior Analyst in Grade 7 Senior Analyst in Grade 7 within the Malta Tax and Customs Administration About the Malta Business Registry The Malta Business Registry, established under Subsidiary Legislation 595.27, is responsible for the registration of new commercial partnerships, the registration of documents related to commercial partnerships, the issuing of certified documentation including certificates of good-standing amongst others, the reservation of company names, the collection of registration and other fees, the publication of notices and the imposition and collection of penalties. The Registry also conducts investigations of companies and the keeping of the company and partnership register. The MBR houses the Malta Tax and Customs Administration, which complements the other Business Units of the MBR such that a one-stop service for operators in the financial services sector is available. The Malta Tax and Customs Administration forms part of the Office of the Commissioner for Revenue under the Ministry for Finance. It is entrusted to assist international business from a fiscal perspective with the aim to promote international investment. The Role The selected candidate will be appointed as Senior Analyst in Grade 7. S/he will be expected to apply an acquired accountancy and tax law knowledge to the duties carried out at the Malta Tax and Customs Administration within the Office of the Commissioner for Revenue. These include: Provide support to the Senior Manager in managing a branch of activity within the Malta Tax and Customs Administration, notably including Competent Authority-related duties in relation to Exchange of Information and/or Transfer Pricing; Assist in supervising and coordinating the activities of any staff under his/her charge. Assist in coordination activities with other branches of activities within the Malta Tax and Customs Administration; Carry out duties in connection with Exchange of Information and/or Transfer Pricing legislation generally; Provide technical assistance to taxpayers’ and tax practitioners on queries in relation to tax laws as assigned to by Seniors; Participate in the drafting of guidelines and legislative provisions; Participation in training sessions, as required, both domestically as well as internationally. Participate in meetings with local stakeholders including financial services providers; and Participate in international fora including meetings organised by OECD and EU, as required.
